Mercedes-Benz to Halt Petroleum Fuels Vehicle Production

Mercedes-Benz announced it will halt production of vehicles that run on petroleum fuels before 2022, and will increase at least 50 electric vehicle types.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 14 (SMM) - Mercedes-Benz announced it will halt production of vehicles that run on petroleum fuels before 2022, and will increase at least 50 electric vehicle types.

It will only produce hybrid power or pure electric vehicles by the year 2022.

Low-Carbon Development to Stimulate Mineral and Metal Demand

Smart, another brand of Daimler’s, will also complete switch to electric vehicles before 2022.

[SMM Copper Flash] In February, the operating rate of copper wire and cable enterprises came in at 55.81%, down 14.29 percentage points MoM, mainly due to the Chinese New Year holiday. During the holiday, wire and cable enterprises took about 11 days off on average. By sector, orders from the power sector were strong with production schedules concentrated, while engineering-related orders were relatively weak, showing clear divergence in end-use sector orders.
